[J2EE Design Patterns] - Executing Native Commands

Hi, We are using some Stateless session beans to execute some native commands. ( through Runtime.getRuntime().exec() ). But i feel we're raping the EJB spec in every possible way with doing this. The commands we're executing will fetch some files from some legacy file service. But what is the correct way of executing these commands, is there a specific pattern I can use? Should i mabye use JCA for this? This may sound like a simple question, but were do we put the cgi scripts in the Jboss architecture? How are they called? Well, this is one of the reasons why bother with 4.2.X as it's supposed to integrate key bits from Java EE 5 to JBoss 4 branch. To have aligned ejb3 security is important. Do you think it can get to next minor release of 4.2.X? As JBoss AS 5 is targeted to Q1 2008 (hopefully) and then consequent wait before adopting it to the production environment this is serious stopper issue. the tooling doesn't create the reveng.xml file yet. What is the max_allowed_packet size for your MySQL database? It must be as large as the blob you are attempting to insert (I would try the file size plus 5-10%). I'm a persistence/EJB 3 newbie having difficulties initializing my EntityManagerFactory. The error I'm getting is the infamous "No Persistence provider for Entity Manager "....
