[Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - server side validation / rolling back update

Hi I cannot find a general way of doing this - suppose a form is submitted which passes JSF standard validation, but then i find a specific validation failure in my backing bean. I want to be able to return to the page and display an error message, but rather the update is being persisted and then i am returned to the page (displaying the error message). Is there a neat way i can prevent the entity manager from updating in this way, eg throw a specific exception (that doesn't crash the whole app), or some other way of preventing the EM from flushing? Do you know how many times this has been asked on this forum? I personally have every forum post sent to my email and I review it there. It used to be mostly constructive suggestions or intelligent questions. I am extremely tired of reading though all of these newbie questions that have been answered 100 times already. Remember this is free software, and no ones owes you anything. Try asking new questions that will help Seam move forward instead of hammering the developers the same old tired questions. In the Yuan Seam book, it states on pg. 161 that "You can trigger any back-end bean method at page load time in the pages.xml file. That is called page action." Also on page 159 he talks about invoking setter method(s) when the URL is loaded with an appended pid (parameter) value. I'm not interested in doing anything at page load time, only when user submits the form to pass params. In my case I have one xhtml and submitting to one SFSB. How do I code/configure to achieve passing params successfully from JSF to SFSB? And what is the difference b/n f:param and Seam params? RTFM - this kind of arrogance really 'F' ing annoys me. I am trying to get to grips with a technology that does not appear to always live up to its claims. I have read the documentation, not end to end but enough to begin to dabble. I then created a simple example that blows the "principle of least surprise" (are you familiar with this?) away completely and the best this forum can offer is this kind of rudeness. You need to do better than this. Aside from any confusions regarding s:link and h:commandButton, the handling of the argument and the bound variable is also not what the innocent might expect. I resubmit my question in the hope that someone less arrogant and more helpful than Mr Muir might be more tolerant of those of us who don't have time to sit down and read the source code. [JBoss Seam] - Adding custom timeout action

I want to execute a method when user session has a timeout event. I am wondering whether there is a configuration that could be used to declare this method? Purpose of this method is to some additional processing than seam would do by default. I noticed org.jboss.seam.core.Events.addListener(String type, String methodBindingExpression, Class... argTypes) method. This may he helpful in achieving what I want but I am not sure how to use it, e.g., what are the valid values for "type" parameter? Where in my code should I invoke this method? I have looked for a pb around modifications of MySQL variables. And I have found that the "skip-networking" parameter has been added. How was it added ? I suspect some MySQL administrator using and saving, but first without effect since MySQL was not restarted. Thanks for your replies. Looks like nobody cares about this. I'll respond with my results so far anyway. I've setup a component as: | @Name("configLogger") | @Scope(value = ScopeType.APPLICATION) | @Startup | public class ConfigLog4j { | | @Create | public void configureLogger() { | URL url = new URL("file:///log4j.xml"); | PropertyConfigurator.configure(url); | } | } | I've setup the log4j.xml that is packaged with the war to be priority value="INFO". I made the external log4j.xml set priority value="DEBUG". I'm expecting that after the above code is run, all of the logs should switch to DEBUG, but nothing is changing. Any help?
