[JBoss jBPM] - JBPM Context variable lifecycle

I use the Seam annotations to launch a JBPM process and outject to the BUSINESS_PROCESS context. Everything works great but I find that the outjected variable gets "removed" from JBPM at some indeterminate later time. For example, after the process has been launched (and is in a wait-state), the following code which retrieves the task instances for the current actor and tries to retrieve the variable initially outjected: | List<TaskInstance> tasks = context.getTaskMgmtSession().findTaskInstances(actorId); | for (TaskInstance task : tasks) | { | Object variable = task.getVariable("NAME USED TO OUTJECT"); | returns "variable" correctly as long I this code runs shortly after the process is launched. After a little while, "variable" is null. I was able to dertmine that my variable starts off looking just fine in JBPM_VARIABLEINSTANCE, but after a while, the row representing this variable is updated WITHOUT a TOKEN_ or PROCESSINSTANCE_ (those two fields, along with a few others become null). Are there any explanations as to why a variable instance would get updated without an associated process instance? For anyone interested, I got it working. If you're using the portal 2.2 example, don't - the packaging is misleading. I found it worked if I packaged the listener in a sar in an ear on it's own - this gets rid of so many problems. You don't need to include the portal lib jars - which can cause conflicts. Packaging it an ear gets rid of the startup problems. Then, as per the documentation, you add the listener to the *-object.xml and just package your portlet normally, which happens to get rid of hot redeploy errors if you were packaging the whole lot in an ear in the first place. I think having the listener as an inner class causes so many problems. But maybe I'm missing a piece of the bigger picture. Hi, meghanai_99, I have the same issue as you do, however I am using a schema that's defined inside the WSDL. (Ironically I'm now thinking about using an XSD to define my custom types!) My project sounds pretty much like what you are trying to achieve as well (hello world + WS call) I have tried to build using both wstools and wscompile and basically end up with problems. I'll watch this thread with interest to see what happens and share my (limited) knowledge/experiences. How is the URL generated in the portlet? Is it hardcoded or generated from PortletURL? You should always use PortletURL to generate URLs targetting your portlet. If PortletURL is used, it should work properly over WSRP. If the URL is hardcoded, then it's no surprise that it doesn't work over WSRP and actually is really fragile for your portlet locally as well.
