Shane perhaps you can help me with another issue I am having. When performing integration tests I would like to assert that after invoking a certain method the correct JSF view is rendered. But FacesRequest.getViewId() keeps returning null no matter where I redirect from my actions. Also I have tried FacesRequest.getRenderedViewId() to no effect. (I looked into the source and found: | /** | * Get the view id to be rendered | * | * @return the JSF view id | */ | protected String getRenderedViewId() | { | if ( Init.instance().isJbpmInstalled() && Pageflow.instance().isInProcess() ) | { | return Pageflow.instance().getPageViewId(); | } | else | { | //TODO: not working right now, 'cos no mock navigation handler! | return getFacesContext().getViewRoot().getViewId(); | } | } so that could be the reason... Tony, you are right. You need to put the @Startup annotation at the class level. This will create the object at the time the app is loaded/deployed, without user interaction. If when the object is created, at that time, you ALSO want to run the init method, you need to annotate that method with @Create. Does that make sense? I'm having a similar problem in 2.6.0-CR1 though i do not get errors or a stack trace. I am able to create a new instance of the CMSPortlet but I'm unable to change it's preferences, specifically changing indexPage to another HTML page. I tried recommended approaches posted here to no avail. Any other suggestions? Hi Devon, I am under the assumption that @Create is called when the component is first referenced by a client (aka the component will not be instantiated until first usage). What I'd like to do is to initiate the connection as soon as the application is brought online. Am I wrong?
