Why? They are normally limited in terms of concurrent requests. i.e. <max-pool-size>20</max-pool-size> In practice, the JCA ConnectionManager/Pool doesn't even see all requests, only the connection state management, i.e. open/close connections, start/end transaction, etc. If you are going to do it anywhere, it would have to be in your resource adapter (outbound ManagedConnection[Factory]) which does see all the requests. Looks like everything written above was big mistake: In order to make this example working I had to: 1. Rename jboss.xml to jboss-web.xml. 2. Remove login-config.xml file from WEB-INF and put its content into jboss\server\default\conf\login-config.xml file. As for exception, root cause of it was in improper jbosssx.jar import into IDE (it was put into WEB-INF\lib\ directory). If you post XML text, bracket the text with "[ code ] ... [ /code ]" tags, without the spaces. The compiled JSPs, which are just class files, go into the WEB-INF/classes directory of the WAR file, of course preserving the package name. Questions: 1) hibernate-all.jar should have all the hibernate + JPA classes/annotations. You'll also need the core Seam jars, jsf jars, facelets jars and any other seam dependencies. Which of these are required depends on the features of seam you use. When in doubt include everything in the lib directory unless you are sure you don't need it. 2) There are plenty examples of this in the seam examples and the docs has explanation of the relevant pieces you need in these files. 3) components.xml is the only required one. pages.xml is only required if you use the seam navigation stuff or page actions. All these files you go in the META-INF directory of your source tree. Comments 1) I would suggest looking at the ant build scripts to see how the examples get built. Or just run the ant build yourself with debugging on. 2) To be fair ejb3 is the standard and the examples cater to the masses. Personally I use the same config as you (hibernate w/o EJB3) and facelets. I would imagine newer examples will use facelets in preference to JSP as I think everyone hates JSP by now, or at least agrees facelets is much better. HTH. Mike. What version of the AS are you running? You cannot use a session scoped component from within the @Create method of an application scoped component that has @Startup. If you think about it your create method is getting run as soon as the web application starts up. At this point there will never be an active session scope. The session scope is only available during a client/JSF request. You need to have a look at your components and what purpose they have.
