[EJB/JBoss] - Issues with EJB 3.0/ JBoss 4.0.5

Hello, I am using a 3rd party API called JBilling, which used EjB2.x and runs over Jboss 3.x, they have provided a Jar file to called JBilling API to access the JBilling Server, I have written a sample code to interact with same which includes the JBilling client jar, this code perfectly in standalone mode and in a servlets deployed on JBoss 4.0.5. But when the same code is called from within EJB 3 deployed on JBoss 4.0.5, i get the following exception. java.lang.ClassCastException: org.jboss.remoting.InvokerLocator cannot be cast to org.jboss.remoting.InvokerLocator Can anyone provide some pointers on how do i proceed from here? This is the first time I am seeing such an issue. With the interface marked with "Stateful/Stateless" you make your bean a containermanaged bean and can access the containers services. Without it, it will stay a simple POJO. So it depends on what you like your bean to be. [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Deploying multiple instances of an application using <virtua

Hello, I am a newbie concerning JBOSS, so please bear with me if I seem a bit non-knowing. Also, I have search a bit on google and in forums for help on my issue, but wasn't successful. Like the title says I have to deploy multiple instances of a single application on the same JBOSS instances. This works well, if I deploy multiple JBOSS instances, but since we want to conserve system resources, we must do it on a single JBOSS. To complicate matters, we do not own the application code and they hard-coded context paths as "/theapp/etc". They do no use the context path. So we can't use a different context for each, such as "/instance1/theapp/etc". Also, the application is bundled in a EAR containing multiple WAR. So I went the virtual-host way, but I am not entirely successful. I basically want instance1 to be bound to http://instance1/theapp/etc" and instance2 to http://instance2/theapp/etc".So here's what I did: 1) add instanceX to "/etc/hosts" (or rather in its Windows equivalent) 2) add to Tomcat's server.xml 3) For each WAR, I added <virtual-host>instanceX</virtual-hosts> in jboss-web.xml. So my first question is about validating that this is a correct route to do this. If not, I would greatly appreciate information on the best way to achieve this. Also, the first problem I have is that as soon as I log in, I get a session timeout and get logged of. But this can easily be an application problem and not JBOSS related. Note that at this time, I only have a single instance of the application. The second problem is when I try to add a second instance, I get a lot of javax.management.InstanceAlreadyExistsException. I tried using the Isolated of the EARDeployer, but then I get a lot of other errors about other stuff not being available. Furthermore, I can't login to the first instance anymore. I can see the login page, but I can't an invalid user instance of the session timeout error. Thank you very much for any help that can be provided. [JBossCache] - How to configure the cache listener in the xml configuration

I've searched the forums and saw an old response from Manik that states this is not possible. Now I have two questions. Why this is not a feature? I think it is very desired for a lot of people. How should I register my listeners, and when. I'm using some treeCaches in a JBoss server Environment, and I want to act on some nodes being created. I store configuration in cache, and as these configuration changes, I want to fire some MBean notifications, for reconfiguring some parts of the app. Also, this has to be done in every node of my cluster. [JBossWS] - How to make a web service with XML input?

I'll like to create some web services on JBoss 4.2 which accepts a XML document/node as input for the web method. Is it possible and can anyone describe how to do it? One way of doing could be to create a web method which just accept a string like anonymous wrote : | @Stateless | public class MyWS { | | @WebMethod() | public void acceptXml(String xml) throws WSException{ | ... | } | This approach required that the method converts the String to a XML Node and then do some validation against a XSD.
