Your thread could interest to me. I m curious to know how we can configure own log4j in JBoss-4.2. This thread may give some ideas even if I cant move to JBoss-4.2 today. Thanks a lot. Going by the exception stacktrace, it seems to be failing (going into indefinite loop) while serializing this list contents: anonymous wrote : private List groups = new ArrayList(0); Try playing around with the list contents or by commenting out this list from the user and see if there is any difference. Irrespective of the outcome, there shouldn't have been an indefinite loop in first place. Since the stacktrace shows the org.jboss.serial.persister.RegularObjectPersister, i think you should report this in the "Design of JBoss Serialization" forum http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewforum&f=233. I know its a design forum meant for design discussions, but i could not find a user forum where you could open a new thread. i understood what you are saying sir. if i could explain my problem clearly, i have an application running on jboss. it has its own login module. i want to make use of the same login module for all other apps. As i am using the same login module for all the apps, is it possible to have SSO feature by confiuration without using the Jboss SSO? The timestamp of this copied over WAR remains 3 PM on the AIX box. * You start the server. And then access the jsp. JBoss checks its work folder to see whether the jps is already compiled. It finds that there is a compiled version. It then checks the timestamp of the compiled version in the version folder (which is 7:xx PM) and compares it with the timestamp with the jsp in the deploy folder (which is 3 PM). This check is done to see whether any recompilation is necessary. Since the compiled file is having a date ahead of the actual file, the server does not recompile the JSP and uses the earlier one. And that's why you see this "cache" effect. One way to solve this issue is to clear out the work folder when the application is undeployed or server shutdown. Since you use JBoss-4.2.x, there's already a configurable property at the server level which can take care of this. On the AIX box, inside the %JBOSS_HOME%/server/< serverName>/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/META-INF/jboss-service.xml file, set the DeleteWorkDirOnContextDestroy to true (by default its false):  | <attribute name="DeleteWorkDirOnContextDestroy">true</attribute> P.S: All this is just based on what i think might be happening. I don't have multiple systems where i can test this theory. Importantly, i don't know whether copying a file from a XP box to a AIX box would retain the timestamp of XP box. The repository selector approach looks a bit complicated and i have seen posts in this forums where users have tried configuring it without much luck. JBoss-4.2.x makes configuring your own log4j.xml very easy. If you have an option of moving to JBoss-4.2.x, let us know, we can point you to a thread where configuring log4j config file is explained. And which version of JBoss are you deploying this on? The exception indicates that you are using Hibernate 2.x which is an old version. It's not bad. It's used for a lot of open source apps. But it lacks all of the transaction features of Sleepycat. I recommend you use it with ASYNC on if possible. One thing I've seen is that JBoss Cache sort of has a goofy implementation of put() where all the data has to be loaded from the cache loader before it's replaced. So do a remove() then put() if possible.
