If what you want to accomplish is to make sure that your queues/topics are created everytime your jboss server is rebooted, you can just use the destination mbeans. It is described in "Destination MBeans" section in the JBoss administration guide, and you should be able to find some examples in deploy/jms/jbossmq-destinations-service.xml. please search the forum (and the jira) for this old and known issue with a certain release of jbpm. I do not know the details at hand. I just ran into this using JBoss AS 4.0.5 with included JBossWS, and my servlet name DOES end with Servlet... turns out my web xml formatting was causing the endsWith("Servlet") to see more than the name string. Changing: <servlet> | <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name> | <servlet-class> | com.example.MyServlet | </servlet-class> | ... | </servlet> ..to: <servlet> | <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name> | <servlet-class>com.example.MyServlet</servlet-class> | ... | </servlet> ...corrected the problem for me. I tried generating a new project using the new seam wizard and discovered the numerous errors described in these postings. I was able to make the deployed application work by copying from another previously deployed seam-gen application. That is, I copied from a working deployed source [JBOSS_HOME]/server/default/deploy/absences.ear to the newly generated project as deployed to jboss at [JBOSS_HOME]/server/default/deploy/seamTests-ear.ear 1. Manually copy jboss-seam.jar from absences.ear to seamTests-ear.ear 2. Manually copy the jars from within absences.ear/lib to seamTests-ear.ear (not within a lib sub-folder) 3. Manually copy the images files from within absences.ear/absences.war/img to seamTests-ear.ear/seamTests.war/img (these files are either corrupted or not deployed at all) There were also a few relative URL references that needed changing due to the rather different layout of the newly generated folders. This affected my custom skin properties and references to graphics in the img folder. The seamTests application then works. However, as soon as I make a change in eclipse or start the server from within eclipse, it undoes ALL of the above 3 steps as it re-dploys. I don't know if any of this is helpful to those who are capable of working on the problem but here it is just in case. =================== I also tried generating a seamTests as a WAR rather than as an EAR. The resulting application failed on an error while reading WEB-INF/components.xml: Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.jboss.seam.servlet.SeamListener That class is coorrectly defined as a listener in web.xml and all of the seam jars seem to be present in WEB-INF/lib Another oddity: The WEB-INF/classes folder contained a java source file Authenticator.java instead of Authenticator.class Anyway, I guess I'll stick with SEAM-GEN for now until this is resolved. I understand that rendering a minimized mode is somewhat a matter of taste. I also understand that I could add a custom portlet mode. My choice would have to render the content if the fragment had be generated, and as a refinement the suggested optimization. Is it possible to define custom window state and to associate a layout to it like it is for the maximized window state? [J2EE Design Patterns] - Spawning new treads from MDB

Hi, I know, I know, the spec says I shouldn't do that. But, honestly, in practice, there are situations where spawning new threads from MDB (or SB for that matter) might be acceptable, aren't there? For example, I need to fetch some data from a number of DB servers and put that data onto some another DB servers, while the whole process must be triggered from MDB. The task begs to be threaded, but do you think I should follow the EJB recommendation and do it all sequentially or I'd be better off taking the multi-threading path regardless the cautions? My only AS is JBossAS, I'm not particularly concerned about porting the code on any other AS. [EJB 3.0] - EJB3 startup

Hi, is there a way to start a method of an ejb3 bean at deployment time, or create a timer without an intervention. I simply want to start a background thread that comes alive once per minte, but have some difficulties getting it to work.
