I'm guessing something must have removed the node between steps 2 and 3. The log you posted is not a JBoss Cache log, but some custom logging from a cache listener which is of limited use. Specifically, I'd want to see the CacheLoaderInterceptor logs and any eviction component logs at TRACE level. Now it's working correcty. I change the version of server to use, from jboss 5.0.0.Beta4 to jboss 4.2.2.GA. It feel that was a motify of configuration of the jboss. Further observations: The class loader doesn't seem to load the MDB before its first use. I checked that by adding a static initializer to the MDB. If a message arrives in the queue that the MDB is connected to, the static initializer is invoked. The system properties java.naming.provider.url and java.naming.factory.url.pkgs are set correctly in that case, however, the property java.naming.factory.initial is unset, even though the file jndi.properties is in the conf folder of the JBoss installation directory. In my opinion, this is a bug. Even if I add | System.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial", "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory"); | to the static initializer, I still get the NoInitialContextException. Hi All, does anyone know how you can possibly set the Transaction Timeout for a Session Bean method in a JBoss 2.0 deployment? in JBoss 4, you can do the following in the jboss.xml file, but what is the equivalent for JBoss 2.0? Though your vision might be just and correct, I managed to implement it as a simple app: I defined one class which creates threadable processes. Each process that has to be started will be fired as a new thread. This works quite safe as each new thread starts a new execution, though it isn't within the main process anymore. The basic idea was to create 'subprocesses' (splitted multiple transitions/nodes that work on a specific task and then merge into one node afterwards). As I want to keep the whole thing plain simple, I won't make use of Hibernate, databases or Job Executor. So I guess I'm forced to create my own implementation then. Perhaps in the future, someday a simple fork will be available where each splitted transaction is a thread just for one transition :). Thanks for your input anyway!
