[JBoss Cache Users] - cache.evict() not working

Hello, I'd like to manually evict an item from the in-memory cache but not from the JDBC cache loader. This method seems to be what I'm looking for: cache.evict(Fqn) I can call this method fine but when I then attempt to retrieve the node (expecting it to be loaded from the database after eviction), I get this error: org.jboss.cache.NodeNotValidException: Node /my/evicted/node is not valid. Perhaps it has been moved or removed. | I just want to refresh this node from the database (invalidate the in-memory node and have it reload from the cache loader). Is evict() the right method for this? Does the passivation setting affect this? Thanks! [Security] - Newbie with difficulties - check Extended Key Usage before a

I am a newbie to Jboss and programming. I need to add checking on the Ectended Key Usage of client certificate (having a specific OID or not00 before accepting a SSL connection. Ajay, I did not get the first part of your question anonymous wrote : shouldn't the query actually be performed at the database level !?!? The query will be performed at the db only. Do you mean a db procedure kind of thing? That will have other significant disadvantages. So that query there looks fine. About the second part, where the query seems to be fired in a loop - I think the goal should be to fire less number of queries. Though it appears that the queries are fired in a loop, but making query in that way actually will result in less number of queries (in fact no query to db most of the time). If you try to aggregate values and fire query then cache hit will not be possible most of the time. Brian, It was reported to me in October, then again today. I log the sessionId when a user logs into my app, and today I could see that the sessionId hGbGpyqSV2CPfJKGZi0KGg**.node1 was given to one user at 1:49PM and then to another user at 4:43PM. The first user complained that at 4:45PM she was seeing "Someone else's data". It is disturbing that the duplicate Id came from the same cluster node. I could probably run a query against the access table to see how often it is happening if that would help. However, it appears that the fix you are recommending be made in 4.2.3 already exists in another branch. After which version of JBoss AS is that fix applied? I also read that this can happen when sessionIds are recycled, and when the session cookie is being used in the URL (such as a bookmarked page with jsessionid) that JBoss will use the sessionId passed in without creating a new one. http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-17273 Is that true and will setting this value in the Connector help? emptySessionPath=false Thank you for your help. Upgrading to a newer version of JBoss is acceptable if needed, but a short term fix could help buy me a little more time to manage the upgrade. A quick word on proxy vs ajp. I noticed some weird behavior myself when using mod_ajp as opposed to mod_proxy when it comes to jboss-native / APR and have found that mod_proxy seems to generally work more consistent. But if Comet / APR sort of setups is not the concern then ajp works flawlessly as well. JBoss and Apache do play well together! Your on a Win box. So you probably have a setup similar to c:/jboss5 and c:/apache. Now you probably want to get jboss running (at least) forward listening on port 80. You are correct. Choose either mod_jk or mod_proxy. One way to do it.... there are many and your exact server limitations/ setup should be consulted to determine your best case scenario but for a point of getting started uncomment the mod_proxy modules... If they are not already there add them from apache... apache/conf/httpd.conf | LoadModule proxy_connect_module modules/mod_proxy_connect.so | LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so | LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so | and then to config it in apache/conf/httpd.conf do the following... Obviously this setup is very open ended and may not be optimal for proxy pass and such but will get jboss and apache to play nice. apache/conf/httpd.conf | ProxyRequests Off | ProxyPreserveHost On | | <Proxy *> | Order deny,allow | Allow from all | </Proxy> | | ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/ | ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/ | <Location /> | Order allow,deny | Allow from all | </Location> | That should do it. Start apache and jboss and hit localhost at port 80. Hope that helps. Dave, I missed your post in October. Yours and igain's are the only reports I've had of this occuring. It's obviously a significant concern. How frequently are you seeing this? Only suggestions I can make involve code changes: 1) To tomcat/src/main/org/jboss/web/tomcat/service/session/JBossCacheManager.java add | @Override | protected String getNextId() | { | while (true) | { | String id = super.getNextId(); | if (sessions_.containsKey(id) || unloadedSessions_.containsKey(id)) | { | continue; | } | else | { | return id; | } | } | } That's in later version of the class. 2) The SessionIDGenerator class itself was recently changed, primarily to support use of /dev/urandom as a source of random bytes. You could look at porting some of that back to the 4.2.3 version. Current version of the class is at https://svn.jboss.org/repos/jbossas/trunk/tomcat/src/main/java/org/jboss/... I've tested the SessionIDGenerator and created millions of IDs without duplicates. So any info on when/how this happens would be most appreciated.
