[JBoss Tools (users)] - Disconnect Hibernate from database after HQL query

When I use the Hibernate HQL editor to test a query on the database, the connection remains open afterwards. I can't seem to find any way of asking for it to be closed. Is such an option hidden somewhere? I am running an in-process hsqldb instance. While Hibernate holds the connection, I can't connect using the JPA related tools. I will look into using server mode, which should allow me to connect from JPA and issue a shutdown. But that's not a very elegant way of working. I also tried changing the database connection in the Hibernate console launch profile from 'hibernate configured connection' to 'JPA project configured connection'. This didn't really work either. When Hibernate needed a connection, JPA opened it but Hibernate subsequently threw an exception saying the database is in use and a connection couldn't be opened! At least I could then close that database connection from a JPA view. What am I missing here? I'm using: - JBoss Tools: 3.0.0.GA-R200903141626-H5 - Seam: 2.1.1.GA - Eclipse 3.4.2 - JDK 6 update 13 Thanks, Ross. I finally found the problem after 24 hours of pain! The root cause was an @Email hibernate validation - it appears that in earlier versions of hibernate validator there are problems with using @Email on an optional email property as jsf passes an empty string rather than a null and so you can pass the screen validation but then get an error on persist. This has subsequently been fixed but as I am using the default hibernate version provided by Jboss AS and this is different on my dev server (JBoss Studio 2.0 BETA bundled with JBoss AS) and my PROD server (JBoss AS 4.2.3GA). I am going to look into using classloaders to ensure the app I deploy has the correct jars I depend on. In the meantime, I will upgrade my server to use a new version of hibernate. [Remoting] - Streming to and from the server

Hi, as I understand from this forum and from http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-11807, it is possible currently stream data only from client to server. I need to stream data from and to server, in both cases it must fit into client/server architecture, i.e. client drives the communication (to avoid problems with NATs, proxies, etc.) Also, I would like to integrate easily into a (stateful) session bean.
