Found the problem, not sure what to do about it.... For many xml files we edit, eclipse( or JBoss Tools?) creates an equivalent *.jsfdia or *.spdia file. These were picked up by maven and deployed, and somehow they appear to handcuff JBoss during initialization, but somehow only when the war is exploded. Any suggestions to elegantly correct this issue? ..aside from manually deleting them all the time. (We are new to JBoss and maven). I figured out why the relationships in the deployed jar were not working, but I'm not sure if it is due to a bug in JBoss or if it is intentional. Basically, we have a jar file of entities which are mapped using annotations _except_ for the primary key generation strategy-- we are using the entities against multiple databases, so we put the id generation strategy for each entity in an orm.xml file. We have one schema, though, where the entities are _completely_ mapped using only annotations, so the entities for that schema do not appear in the orm.xml file. When we use this setup in a JavaSE application, it works fine-- the entities are discovered and mapped using annotations, and the orm.xml file provides the primary key generation strategy for those entities that need it. When I deployed the jar and orm.xml file as part of an ear file in JBoss, however, it failed to find any entities that were not in the orm.xml file (the entities that were completely mapped using annotations, and thus did not need to be in the orm.xml file). Once I added these entities to the orm.xml file, everything worked as expected-- JBoss found the entities that were "missing" and keeping the bidirectional relationships from working. Is this the expected behavior with JBoss? If an orm.xml file is used, do _all_ entities need to be in it, even if they are completely mapped using annotations? Why does this behavior differ from using hibernate/JPA in a JavaSE environment? Although I was able to get around the issue I was having, I would really like to understand why it was happening in the first place. I would really appreciate any help answering these questions...the difference in behavior between JavaSE and JavaEE environments is troubling. [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Deployment functionality of JBoss AS 4.2.1.GA refuses to wor

Hi! I am using JBoss AS 4.2.1.GA with JBoss Tools to create Seam web applications, but still am quite new to that. >From a few days on I can't get the server started properly. I first thought about a problem in cunjunction with JBoss Tools but I get the same behaviour when trying to run the server with the run.bat file provided in the bin folder. I am using Windows Vista 32bit and Java v 1.6. This is my problem: The server starts as usual but after the line " [Server] JBoss (MX MicroKernel) [4.2.1.GA (build: SVNTag=JBoss_4_2_1_GA date=200707131605)] Started in 15s:927ms" nothing happens. No deployment is done. When everything did work after that line the deployed projects were processed and a related output was given. Instead no deployment is done and no other output is given. If it is useful for you, I uploaded my boot.log to http://nopaste.info/8507393494.html[/url] and the last few lines of my server.log to [url]http://pastebin.com/m7e3f17e7. I even deleted the server directory and downloaded it again, but it still does the same. Do you know what the problem might be? Thank you so much in advance! Hi saladinmundi, I advice you to use the Eclipse Web Tools Platform plugin (or the JBoss Tools plugin, which is based on this) to create/edit your EJB projects. You have to create a JBoss server, and have to create non-plain-Java-projects, but a WebTools specific "EJB project". This way, all required server JARs are on your classpath. Can you clarify what this part of the documentation means? anonymous wrote : maps. In this case, each element of the field-element is expected to have one subelement key and one element value. The key and element are both parsed using the conversion rules recursively. Just the same as with collections, a conversion to java.lang.String is assumed if no type attribute is specified. (from http://docs.jboss.org/jbpm/v3/userguide/jpdl.html#configtypefield) I would have figured that parsing the elements recursively meant that the elements could any type, and that they'd be parsed like a base element. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what the docs are saying? Thanks again.... Looks like you are running JBoss AS as a service, as root. Since you did not give a full path name for the gc log file, it will be placed into the "current working directory." Since you are running JBoss AS as a service I am not sure exactly what the current working directory is, but I would look in /root/GC.log. If it is not there, you might have to search your disks looking for it. I recommend that you specify a full path name, such as "-Xloggc:/opt/jboss-4.2.0.GA/bin/GC.log".
