[JBoss Portal] - Re: Portlet development in Seam/JSF only ?

Ok, considering that it is still Age of Innocence w.r.t JBoss Portal for me, I had a question. Suppose, there is an application in web framework X and X does not have the "bridge"; then how will it be surfaced in JBoss Portal ? Rewriting already a stable app in Seam/RichFaces must not be a binding option. I am sure the development effort to rewrite apps and ease of integrating running apps(in various frameworks) into JBoss Portal must have been looked into ? [Clustering/JBoss] - JBoss 5.1 clustering improvements - update the Wiki please?

Doesn't the syntax in JBoss 5's bindings-jboss-beans.xml... <parameter>${jboss.service.binding.set:ports-default}</parameter> ...allow changing the ports without hand-editing the bindings.xml file (as recommended by this Wiki http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/ConfigurePorts)? It would be really neat to be able to do... run -c all -Djboss.service.binding.set=ports-01 ...but this doesn't seem to quite work because the VM arg isn't passed through run.conf.bat (if you manually put it in the run.conf.bat it does). [Advanced Documentation] - JBoss configuration to allow CAB and MSI files

I am trying to put some .msi and .cab files on my JBoss portal. However, when I click on the link on the page, the page attempts to render the files instead of executing them. I figure there is some configuration that I am missing in JBoss. Can anyone tell me which file to add this config info to and what to add? Thanks a bunch! I was able to get this working with this code: CacheSPI cacheSpi = (CacheSPI) cache; CacheStoreInterceptor csi = null; int index = 0; for (Object o : cacheSpi.getInterceptorChain()) { if (o instanceof CacheStoreInterceptor) { csi = (CacheStoreInterceptor) o; break; } index++; } cacheSpi.removeInterceptor(CacheStoreInterceptor.class); rootNode.removeChild("mostlyStaticDataNode"); cacheSpi.addInterceptor(csi, index); rootNode.getChild("mostlyStaticDataNode"); Basically, I remove the cache store interceptor before removing the child (this removes the local node but doesn't touch the database). I then add the interceptor back and retrieve the node. This will "refresh" the node from the database. Of course, there are a couple problems with this code. The first is that I'm casting Cache to CacheSPI which I know is not recommended. The second is that it's pretty much a hack. Is there a more elegant way to accomplish this? Sorry, rereading what I wrote and it doesn't make sense. The Principal can be got from the request after successful authentication by calling request.getPrincipal() After successful authentication Principal is cached till the expiry of HttpSession -- no need for extra authentication till session expires. But if you have other special requirements like preventing multiple sign on from different clients and such, then you'd have to to some work. After you get the valid login, stick the username and password into the session and then have the filter validate that on every subsequent request into the web server. It doesn't get put into the http request session automagically, you gotta make it happen.
