I use JBoss 5.1.0 and had similar problem as the one described above. Then I pached it with JBoss Messaging 1.4.6.GA-SP1 and JBoss Remoting 2.5.3.SP1 following the recommendation. But the problem occurred again. The consequnce to the blocked thread is that any server call to a specific MDB is blocked and a message is logged: "Unable to passivate due to ctx lock...". A jmx-console thread dump fragment is copied below.
Any help or hint is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a use case which needs to handle multiple intermeidate message events from external partners (applications) in a process. Let's say each external partner sends the JMS message (or Web Services, which does not matter in this case) toward the process. To handle this, I can put multiple event nodes and set up the event type for each event node in the process. And, I can make a JMS listener (e.g., MDB) that translates incoming JMS messages into event data object. Since the external partners have no idea about the knowledge session nor process instance (not supposed to), the JMS message does NOT have those data fields. But, using some JMS fields (content-based mapping), I may be able to map them to a particular event type.
Here is my question. Now, I need to find a paritcular "running" knowledge session and/or process instance based on the incoming JMS message. There could be multiple running session and process instances. How do I get/know a particular session / process instance id to send a signalEvent? I went through jBPM 5 sample test code came with jBPM 5, but they didn't explain this use case. The jBPM 5 user document says, "it is also possible to have the engine *automatically* determine which process instances might be interested in an event using event correlation, which is based on the event type." What if there are multiple running instances waiting for the same event type?
Any suggestion or sample code will be appreciated.

Hi
I have a custom work item handler and I would like to load the value of a process instance variable while executing the work item handler. Basically I have a service method which does the following:
public String getValue(Long processId, String variableName) {
session.getProcessInstance(..);
instance.getVariable(variableName);
//do something with the value...but not modify
}
When i call this service method within the execute method of the work item handler I get a nullpointerexception and the stacktrace indicates that the processinstancebytearray value of ProcessInstanceInfo is null. I guess this is because the process has not reached a safe point to persist. Is there another way to get the value of a variable defined in the process within the execution of the work item handler?
This is the final part of a POC I am currently working on demonstrating the use of JBPM 5 so any help on this would be extremely grateful.

Hi,
I have a problem with deployment of EJB3 web service after upgrading JSF. IMHO, these two things should not be linked to each other, but reality has a different opinion :0 .
I'm running JBoss AS 5.1.0 GA and updated JSF to 2.0 (Mojarra 2.0.3). Deploying any WAR works perfect, but when I deploy a JAR package containing a web sevice, I get the following error:
> Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.jboss.web.jsf.integration.config.JBossJSFConfigureListener
> com.sun.faces.config.ConfigurationException: no web.xml present
Well, thats right. There is no web.xml, as there must not be a web.xml in a JAR file. Unfortunately, it prevents my complete EJB-package from beeing deployed and started. I tried to add an empty web.xml file. As a result, I didn't get any error message, but the application is still not started, web service not initialized, ...
Is there any workaround possible?
