I added following block to the faces-config.xml prior to build/test:

  | <managed-bean>
  |       <managed-bean-name>carBean</managed-bean-name>
  |      
<managed-bean-class>com.cox.beans.session.CarBean</managed-bean-class>
  |       <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
  |    </managed-bean>
