I'm not sure how I'd tune it. I don't see any documented configuration attribute I can tweak. In any event, by examining the BdbjeCacheLoader source, it appears that it attempts the operation 10 times in a row, with each failing after a 500ms timeout before giving up and throwing the exception, so that lock was held for 5 seconds. Also, every single attempt to commit an update to the cache fails with the same exception. It continues to fail even if I shut down the other replica. Only shutting them all down fixes the problem.
