Is NexusEvents/NexusEventsServiceImpl/local, the JNDI name of your NexusEventsService? If
yes, then try this:

@EJB(mappedName="NexusEvents/NexusEventsServiceImpl/local")
  | 	NexusEventsService nexusEventsService;	

Note the use of mappedName in the injection.
