Nice architecture. I used to talk about such an integration you talked about, but with Magnolia. Look at that post on Magnolia integration (http://jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=98840). Magnolia has a portal part but a CMS part too. Thanks for the hint, I'll test the Alfresco tools too. Maybe, it's easier to deal with for authoring content into a JCR repository than Magnolia.
