Hi, Try changing the port number of 1098 at the following places and run the server: C:\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\all\conf\jboss-minimal.xml(67) C:\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\all\conf\jboss-service.xml(240) C:\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\default\conf\jboss-minimal.xml(67) C:\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\default\conf\jboss-service.xml(240) C:\jboss-4.0.4.GA\server\minimal\conf\jboss-service.xml(67) Change it to port number which is not used (likely, 1199). I too faced this issue today when i tried to run the JBoss AS 4.0.4. Till friday (6th Oct 06) I could run the server successfully.
