That is odd, I just tried an install of AOP 1.5.2 in jboss 4.0.3 and it worked as expected. Can you try the injboss example that comes with the dist under jboss-aop_1.5.2.GA/docs/aspect-framework/examples/injboss When installing AOP 1.5.2 into JBoss 4.0.3, (unless this is what you did) you need to make sure that you replace the whole jboss-aop.deployer with the jboss-aop-jdk50.deployer that comes with jboss aop 1.5.2.
