Looking at the code there is a new eviction policy, org.jboss.cache.eviction.ElementSizePolicy. It seems to take 2 config elements, maxNodes and maxElementsPerNode. I believe this must be what was meant when JBCACHE-77 was closed. java123, perhaps you can try that out and see if if does what you want. I created a JIRA to get better docs for it.
