I'm having the same problem, either with or without ajax. Anyway, a UIInput does have the immediate attribute. But it doesn't help very much as the input value is stored (during apply request phase) in the component, not in the model. Now i can only think of a solution -- setting fields' immediate attributes to "true" and getting values via component bindings. But.. this is.. weired, IMO.
