Simon, You are correct that the feature request is exactly what you describe. You can always reference this thread from the issue, or vote for it if you badly need it. In the meantime, you could provide the same behaviour using process variables that get copied into the launched process and are used to do the proper swimlane assignments e.g. while leaving the start state of the subprocess...
