I haven't tried it, but I think you do something like this.

  | <component name="org.jboss.seam.security.identity"
class="my.IdentityExtension">
  |    <property
name="authenticateMethod">#{authenticator.authenticate}</property>
  | </component>
  | 

If it's not that, then it's something close to that.
