Thanks for the help, but i don't think that's what i'm looking for. What i would like to achieve is a portlet with a file explorer look, a user or even a guest could navigate through the contents of the CMS and download them. But nothing else, no options to create folders or upload files, that would be up to the admin or some power users using the management portlet.
