It does work out of the box.
You must have file access troubles or port conflicts, or network issues. With the provided
data it's hard to tell.

Does the running user have read access to:
file:/var/jboss-portal-2.6/server/default/deploy/jboss-portal.sar/conf/hibernate/user/setup.txt
?
