"miketech" wrote : Does JBoss already have any WSRP 2.0 implementation?
Not yet, no.
"miketech" wrote : Is JBoss using WSRP4J in JBoss Portal 2.6? Or is it your own
implementation?
We already have a base-level implementation of WSRP 1.0 in Portal 2.4. The implementation
is our own, based only on the spec.
"miketech" wrote : Can you tell me anything about WSRP 2.0 in JBoss Portal in
the future?
WSRP 2.0 will be supported at some point in Portal though it is contingent on the
evolution of the Portlet 2.0 spec (JSR 286). Currently, we target the 3.x branch for WSRP
2 support.
"miketech" wrote : How important is WSRP (2.0) for you? How often is it used?
What do you except from WSRP 2.0? Does it satisfy your needs?
Our job is to provide implementations of the specs based on customer needs. WSRP addresses
several different use cases, the most important of which is probably integration of
heterogeneous portals and legacy data into a single, unified portal. That said, I'll
leave it up to our users to comment on how important WSRP is for them, as I am not using
the technology myself, just enabling it... :)
"miketech" wrote : BTW: Is JBoss Portal based on Apache Portal?
No. JBoss Portal is a clean-room implementation of JSR 168 and other specs.
Hope this helps.
