Seam does not really support EJB2. However, you can certainly call an EJB2 component from a Seam component. I don't know of any reason why Seam won't work in JBoss 4.0.3 if you are not using EJB3 (but I still recommend the upgrade to 4.0.5). EJB3 is certainly not a requirement for Seam.
