Personally, I don't fine the JIRA changelog that helpful. It lists a multitude of JIRA issues that were fixed and many of the subject lines and descriptions leave much to be desired. A better summary of what changed can be found in the release notes - the readme.html file that comes with JBossAS (the 4.2.3 readme file contains all changes since 4.0.5).
