The fix I found when using JBoss 4.0.4.GA is to use the jems patch installer not the beta2 installer. When I upgraded to 4.0.5.GA this problem began occurring all over again, so we fell back to using 4.0.4.GA. Good news is that hot deployment works consistently with 4.0.4.GA if you use the patch installer. Hope this helps, and hopefully Jboss will fix this ASAP!
