Pete, I've created a basic project illustrating this. I've attached it to the JIRA at http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2111. I've attached the project built with Seam 2.0.0.CR2 and it raises the error. I've also attached it built with Seam 1.2.1.GA and the error doesn't happen.
