Ok, I fixed (1) in CVS. (2) This is by design as commented on the JIRA issue. If you want help out, take a look at the open jira issues (especially those with lots of votes) and put a comment saying you are working on it, and work on a patch :) If you want to discuss design of the patch, do it on the jira issue.
