[JBoss Seam] - question about SafeActions and s:link - jboss-user

why would at org.jboss.seam.core.SafeActions.isActionSafe through an
IllegalArguementException when using s:link

I'm using Seam 1.1.6

here's the jsf

  | <s:link value="#{item.id}" action="#{element.openItem}" />
  | 

element is a Seam componement annotated SFSB.
