workarounds:
 1) don't enable many-to-many detection (see hibernate tools doc for how)
 2) hand edit the associations to choose who "wins"

for a fix we just need to come up with a "deterministic and works-ok" solution
for choosing the default "winner". Suggestions welcome ;)
