What all did you do to change DefaultDS to use SQL Server instead of HSQL? Simply replacing hsqldb-ds.xml is not sufficient because for various services, such as messaging, there are database-specific configuration files that must be deployed. Such a configuration file for SLQ Server would not use a reserved word. Also, it is easier to help you if you post the exception stack traces.
