Looks like you copied the ear file into the deploy directory and then started the app server. I have found that many archives will not deploy properly in 5.0 unless the app server is brought up first, and then the file deployed. Not the perfect solution, but at least it will allow you do the testing you want to do. I too am impatiently waiting for the deployers to get fixed.
