This is what has to be unique:

  |          <property name="jboss.entity.manager.factory.jndi.name"
value="java:/itsEntityManagerFactory"/>
  | 

The unit name does not have to be unique between EARs.

Why is this happening?  the jboss.entity.manager.factory.jndi.name binds to global JNDI.
