I don't think making the conversation the length of the session is going to help ;) @Synchronized(timeout=2000) sets the timeout. Can we see the component in question? I assume the out of memory/transaction problems are the same. Are you async work using timers? If so, lets see it. I'm not best sure how to analyze the memory problems - perhaps a profiler would give you more information on what was taking all the memory.
