Yes Firefox will attempt to parse xhtml documents and will complain if it is not well formed. JavaScript with any form of document.write in it will cause it to break as well. I asked the same question before since I was using Google Maps and it was breaking in Firefox as a result of this. A poster provided an answer that works great.
