I would recommend running Seam 1.2.1.GA on JBoss 4.0.5.GA (with EJB3 profile) or Seam2 on
JBoss AS 4.2. 

I don't think an el impl is shipped with JBoss AS 4.2, I think Michael Yuan blogged
about getting this up and running.
