Sorry, I did solve this issue. There is a problem with the hibernate3.jar file. Specifically, The problem lies in the PostgreSQLDialect. Here is a link to the Persistence/Hibernate forum with all the information. http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=92679 I had to make the change to the hibernate source code and then recompile it. I then replaced the hibernate3.jar file in the lib dir of the app server. Once I did that then everything worked like it should. Thank you.
