If you want to reuse the current CMS service and browser you can adapt it. Add a field on the form, then query the CMS service to create a CMS folder using the Command org.jboss.portal.cms.impl.jcr.command.FolderCreateCommand But of course you will have to adapt the UI and the backend. You can also create a totally new portlet and call the same CMS service. (See core-cms to see how it works) That would be easier if you want to benefit from bug fixes and improvement of the CMS admin portlet.
