Have you tried using the most recent version of tomahawk (like 1.1.5-SNAPSHOT)? Remember that JBoss Portal and JBoss AS both have several version of MyFaces+Tomahawk lying in several subdirectories of server/.../deploy which you need to delete in order to have the new version up and running. Place your own (new) JARs place at either an equivalent or more obvious global lib folder (like server/.../lib).
