I have the same problem with version 1.1.6
however, I have another exception tag in my pages.xml and it works fine but the second tag
doesn't work at all
the former catches the NotLoggedInException and the latter catches AuthorizationException
and this doesn't work
I'm not sure but I think whenever the target exception is in top of the stack it will
be realized by pages.xml otherwise won't

You have no examples that I know of that work in Tomcat (without JBoss Embedded) OOTB, so
instead I've created and attached a small Eclipse/Maven webapp that gives examples of
the problem using Seam 2.0.1-SNAPSHOT dated 20071126.212331 (having the fix you just put
in for JBSEAM-2163).
Once you build the WAR and deploy to Tomcat (tested in Tomcat 5.5.23), navigate to
localhost:8080/SeamSandbox/usher.seam?flow=main to run through the pageflow. Uncomment one
or the other lines in the pageflow file to trigger different problems.
Let me know if you have any problems running the app.

Ah, forgot about them. They're not ideal however (require database, don't have
jBPM support built-in, can't easily be built/deployed/debugged with Eclipse), so as
long as that attached SeamSandbox project works for you I'll stick with that.

Here's an updated example; navigate to index.seam and click "Test error
handling" to see the bug in action. I discovered that in the previous example I had
the SeamFilter URL pattern incorrectly specified; now that it's corrected, the
problem's manifesting itself with an infinite redirect loop instead of just a missing
message -- much worse, since IE won't even catch the loop!

This is ocuring because the pageflow start is bad. The pageflow is then propagated with
the conversation and in an invalid state. I think we should just not validate the pageflow
if we are coming off a handled exception
