I'm unable to reproduce with Seam from CVS. Actually, given that the exception is
"No enum const class com.fb.core.model.cdm.CdmField.Se
lect search field...", and "search field..." isn't the noSelectionLabel
or any string associated with s:selectItems, I suspect your problem is elsewhere.

Ok, I just spent some time with the debugger.
The scenario where it blows up is when I submit the form with nothing selected in the
menu. In the debugger at the point right before the conversion explodes I see the
following state in the ConverterChain (forgive the ugly copy/paste from eclipse - though
it actually contains the important info I hope):

Thanks, that information is invaluable. The priorities are correct, but the order of the
chain is wrong (there is an optimisation in there to only sort the chain into priority
order if it is dirty). I've committed a change to CVS which *might* help. Can you
test it for me? If it doesn't help, can you try this patch, and tell me if it fixes
the problem:
