Actually the combination of an expiring view, conversation-required and
no-conversation-view-id works just fine. We can't do anything about expiring views

The ViewExpiredException occurs during the RESTORE_VIEW phase, but the
conversation-required does not appear to be checked by the SeamPhaseListener until after
the RESTORE_VIEW phase has executed. Thus, the ViewExpiredException has already been
thrown due to the session timeout.
I am currently using the Seam exception handling to simply redirect to the appropriate
location should a ViewExpiredException occur, but this of course causes an error to be
logged (not preferable).

After reviewing the README it does not explain the entire scenario. Once you have added
or removed songs from the playlist as the README describes, allow the session to timeout
(set to 1 second). Once the session has timed out select "Remove Mp3". This
results in the ViewExpiredException. Hope that helps.

For your information: this workaround apparently doesn't work.
adding com.sun.faces.disableVersionTracking parameter mentioned in this workaround leads
to this log at startup (SUN RI 1.2_07-b03-FCS):
WARNING: JSF1025: [] Context initialization parameter
'com.sun.faces.disableVersionTracking' is deprecated and will have no effect.
And I get javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException after first JSF request after
session timeout.
