Ramesh Reddy commented on TEIID-2842:
-------------------------------------
Mike, You are correct. I used Hive instead of Impala before. I see the same behavior now. I can not even do select from it, it says the "Compressed text files are not supported"
So, there isn't much we can do until the support is provided in Impala other than do what you are doing unzip if you want use Impala.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIID-2842) Impala/ HIVE2: Unsupported compress file
by Ramesh Reddy (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIID-2842?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin... ]
Ramesh Reddy commented on TEIID-2842:
-------------------------------------
I downloaded the Cloudera's Quick Start VM instance for "Virtual Box", followed the your instructions on the "Import Data Into Hadoop" document, and used the DDL from hiveddl.txt ( I changed the file location to point to the right directory /home/cloudera/ominutelogs) where the .gz file as
{code}
CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE omniturelogs
(
col_1 string, col_2 string, col_3 string, col_4 string, col_5 string, col_6 string, col_7 string, col_8 string, ....col_178 string
)
-- PARTITIONED BY (id string)
ROW FORMAT DELIMITED FIELDS TERMINATED BY '\t' STORED AS TEXTFILE
LOCATION "/user/coludera/omniturelogs";
{code}
Then I can see I can issue
{code}
DESCRIBE omniturelogs;
DESCRIBE FORMATTED omniturelogs;
{code}
with out any issues. I started a Hive2 server
{code}
hive --service hiveserver2
{code}
then connect to the hive server using hive driver from my local machine over JDBC, then issued same describe commands, they worked fine too.
So, given that do you think there may be some configuration option you may be missing in your setup?

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIID-2851) ODATA POST fails if table column is of IDENTITY type (sql server)
by Ramesh Reddy (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIID-2851?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin... ]
Ramesh Reddy resolved TEIID-2851.
---------------------------------
Labels: Alpha3 (was: )
Fix Version/s: 8.7
Resolution: Done
Captured the generated keys from the source command to the Teiid query engine and used them to retrieve the newly inserted entity.
Note that this will only work with target source that is used in the Teiid as data source also supports Generated Keys. If Teiid, does not come back with generated keys, the insert is committed, but the result entity is not returned. In those cases, make sure you supply or use some other kind of identity generation.
