A more aggressive refactoring separated the cache config from the translator
functionality. ObjectConnection now needs implementations for each of the connection
scenarios we want to support. It provides named maps/caches from the table name in source
and the root class of the cache objects - which should be coming from the connection since
it may be from a different classloader. ObjectConnection may need additional methods for
metadata discovery, such as supplying all of the available cache names.

With these changes, it makes it even more (IMO) important that we create an object
connector that will provide an ObjectConnection. This would be especially true for
remote caches, where our server is only interested in that other Infinispan cache,
thereby, we need some way to connect (i.e, new RemoteCacheManager) and bind the cache to
JNDI. Also, for testing and demo's, it would make it easier for Designer to use. As
much as I like the performance of AS 7, I'm still not a fan how you have to configure
it. And anything, from a user perspective, that we can do to make it easier, is better.

Regarding using NameInSource for the nameInSource as the name of the cache, it no longer
makes it configurable at deployment time. If the model has to be updated (i.e. via
designer) for deployment, I think that's bad. If it was a configurable property on
the translator, then at deployment the user can make that decision.

You could say the same thing for database tables. It's a question of the likelihood
of a cache name change vs. configuring a translator per cache (which seems like a lot of
work). I would vote for the current view that the ObjectConnection roughly represents a
CacheContainer.
You could workaround this by introducing a cache name indirection mechanism (similar to
the file translator), just have a special type of ObjectConnection that represents a
singleton cache and would therefore effectively ignore the name for lookup purposes, or
add back just a single cache name as a configuration property. At this point I would vote
for keeping additional configuration off of the translator.

I see your point, by tying the translator to a named cache, you essentially limit the
number of tables can can be defined in the model. Whereas, using the nameInSource, you
can define all your caches that exist in that container.

At this point it looks like the last issues are:
TEIID-2217 - something for JPA/Hibernate search annotations. My preference would be to
split this off as a separate issue that can be coordinated with the JPA/OGM work as Ramesh
suggests and target to 8.3
TEIID-2287 - to doc the Infinispan resource adapter
And possibly more logic to allow object connections to non-infinispan caches - I would
also target this to 8.3
Is there anything else needed for 8.2?
