Have you changed anything in the server API? Using the same code I've been
using with success the last days now it returns a *" The request sent by
the client was syntactically incorrect ()"*

Object Serialization in iOS
by Christos Vasilakis
Hi everyone,
we are currently working on updating our underlying networking library to rely on the AFNetworking 2.x branch. What is more interesting of this change, is that the new library supports the concept of ‘pluggable’ serializers, both in the request and in the response. In other words, a plugin a can be written (and attached) to automatically convert your object model to JSON (or XML, etc) and back, upon request/response. Although it could have been in earlier versions, it was a pain and hacky, making the new version attractable for this operation. Interesting enough, this spanked many projects[1][2] that take advantage of this ability.
Currently in iOS, we deal with generic dictionary objects, which although have their flexibility, I think it will make life easier for our developers, to make use of their object model directly during operations.
After the AFnet 2.x merge and our 1.5 release, what do you think on creating such a plugin and making necessary adjustments to our API?
Thanks,
Christos

UnifiedPush: Sending notifications from the AdminUI
by Matthias Wessendorf
Hi,
over the weekend I spoke w/ a friend: His company is doing some mobile
(iOS/Android) apps which also support receiving push notifications.
Two examples he told me. After receiving push notification:
* One of their apps basically fetches the latest version of a CSV file,
stored on a public HTTP Server.
* Another app is used to tell sales guys new brochure files (PDF) are
available on a protected resource of a webserver (which they _can_ than
download from w/in the app, if the like to)
The company build a simple console (PHP) which allows them to send new push
messages, when ever their customers want to.
I showed them our UnifiedPush Server and its usage via our AeroDoc example
(iOS / backend). They really liked the UnifiedPush Server. Especially that
it does store all the device metadata.
But since a lot of their mobile apps don't have a backend requirement, they
would still have to use their own console (which than connects to UPS) for
submitting all the push messages they want.
This brings me to [AGPUSH-38] and I really think we should implement that
feature. Not only for sending test messages! If our UnifiedPush Server
allows its users to simple send push messages to all of their mobile apps,
it would make the server even more attractive.
I regret a bit that I was against [AGPUSH-38] in the beginning, I guess
that's due to my Java enterprise background, where you typically find
complex setups, and server talk to servers :-(
Anyways, now I really think that the UPS has to have such a 'send push'
facility inside of the Admin UI :-) I believe that we could reach way more
potential users with something like that
Any thoughts?
Greetings,
Matthias

Let's talk about roadmap!
by Corinne Krych
Hello Folks
Today, with Christos, we did the exercice to plan our 1.5.0 meeting. We’ll discuss it this afternoon in iOS meeting, feel free to join us. Here the agenda [1]. 1.5.0
Doing the exercide of planning for 1.5, we get so excited we decided to plan further and review the iOS roadmap. Who says that planning is not fun ;)
But doing so we had a couple of question for you guys, here is:
#topic OAuth2 adapter enhancements
#question could be part of 1.6 or later but to sync with Android team
#topic Sync
#question have M1(Data Model) included in 1.6.0
#question M2(Conflict) included in 1.6.0
#idea Have a separate Sync roadmap?
#info Notifer API for iOS (MQTT, STOMP)
#link https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AGIOS-89
#idea move to 1.7
What’s your views on that?
++
Corinne.

Coldstart notification
by Miguel Lemos
According to the documentation it's possible to decide what the
notification triggers depending if the app is running or is in the
background.
if (e.foreground) {
alert(e.alert); // whatever...
}
else {
if (e.coldstart) {
// ?
}
else {
// ?
}
}
Maybe I didn't understand well the scope of this, because whatever I put
inside the coldstart it always triggers what is in the foreground event.
Thanks

Database filtering
by Miguel Lemos
If the app is running in the foreground, I can control what the
notification shows or does next, because I can use the parameters I sent
previously in the message to decide if I show it or not, or what I'm going
to do according to the data retrieved, before it triggers to the screen.
Example:
function onNotification(e) {
tit = e.payload.at;
notif= e.payload.av;
ent = e.payload.en;
url= e.payload.ul;
if (e.foreground) {
if (ent==entID){ // a given condition
navigator.notification.
confirm(
notif,
onConfirmDo,
tit,
'OK'
);
function onConfirmDo(button){
if(button == "1" && url){
openInside(url+'&imei='+imei);
}
}
}
}
else {
if (e.coldstart) {
//
}
else {
//
}
}
}
Of course in many cases this is not a effective solution, because I should
filter the message before she leaves the server. For instance: I want to
show a notification to all my customers under 40 y.o. According to this:
http://aerogear.org/docs/specs/aerogear-server-push/
...I can use "alias", "categories", etc., to perform such segmentation; but
I don't know how to send / store (?) that information into the server.
Another issue related to this one: is there some way I have to control over
the alert on the notification tray? That is: make it show only if a given
criteria is matched?
Thanks
Miguel

No this list (aerogear-dev) is still the right place. But my suggestion was
to send new email (threads) per topic.
Originally this email (thread) was started because you had issues getting
started. We solved that.
Now you had four different questions for a running app. If a different
user has a question around geofencing as well, I'd perhaps not be searching
inside of an email thread around "Issues with Aerogear on Cordova" :)
Note: the issues list is just for our JIRA instance. It posts updates for
all our JIRA instances to their. Not intended for sending emails to it.
It's really just for JIRA.
