We are planning on adding an OAuth2 adapter to the JS library for 1.3.0. We are going to code against the google OAuth2 playground stuff, but trying to follow the spec as much as possible and try to be as generic as we can. I'm not sure if this should be an "adapter" or something different. If it is an adapter of the Authentication plugin( not sure what we are calling the different pieces. pipeline, data manager, etc.), then we should expect to see authentication methods( enroll, login, logout ), but i think this "adapter" should be much more than that. It should be used to connect to secured services( api ) that a user allows, such as GCM for chrome or the google+ platform, or some other enterprisey thing. I'm wondering if this should be a standalone thing. I kind of like this idea so when we do social login, which will most likely have OAuth2, we can just access it. Thoughts?

[Unified Push Server] Roles structure & password management

Hi, Start point is this jira https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AGPUSH-282 for allowing the creation of additional users/developers. In the current situation we have just one role : "developer" , so the first question is : - Should a user with the role "developer" be able to create another user ? - Should we introduce a "admin" role that can manage users (create, reset password, delete) ? - A mix of permissions ? (a developer can create other users but not remove them nor reset (except its own) password ) >From there the second question regarding password management : In the current situation, our default user (called "admin" , yeah a bit confusing :) ) has a temporary password that must be changed the first time he logs in. - Do we want to keep this ? - Shall we move to a script that creates a user(s) ? - When we add a user through the admin UI, should we provide a password or should it be generated and changed on first login ? In other words, I think we must concretely spec out the user management for the UPS and we could use this thread to discuss that !

Java Sender API - fire&forget - adding callback methods?

Hi, I went once again through http://lists.jboss.org/pipermail/aerogear-dev/2013-June/002901.html - which says that Sender API should be fire&forget. It feels more like "maybe fire"&forget, for instance it does not say that your credentials were wrong - or it says, you need parse logs to get that information. If I think about Android, iOS, JS solutions to communicate with UnifiedPush we provide - Pipes - they always provide a callback to be executed on success/failure. Could we add callback to Sender API? Or should not Aerogear rather have something like Pipes abstraction for Java developers instead of pretty dumb Sender API? Thoughts? Thanks, Karel

Cookbook for iOS

Hello Guys I like very Android Cookbook repo and I like to start the same idea for iOS. Putting together receipes in one common repo with different exemples sorted by folder. Adaopting the naming convention "HowTo…." for the file name that will match the documentation "How to … " is a good ay to easily find the information you need. Talking about it on IRC we had a question though: how do we handle when in the exemple you need a server side code. Would you deploy it on cloud server and available for client apps. Like in https://github.com/aerogear/aerogear-android-cookbook/blob/master/src/org... Or would you package the server side exemple in the cookbook repo? I rather put servide side in cookbook as we could also to demo this part too. Feedback for aerogear-unifiedpush-server - personalized push notifications case

I received some feedback for the aerogear-unifiedpush-server. The case is: Company X would like to create a personalized push notifications campaign for Y hundred thousands customers/clients. Personalized means that each client/device should receive a unique message. The messages are automatically produced from rules defined in a CRM system, but this is something which doesn't affect our implementation. Currently, our selective send method is able to send one message to a selected list of clients. In cases like the above one, this translates into Y hundred thousands calls of the aerogear-unifiedpush-server selective send method. The question is whether we could change the signature of the selective send method and allow to pass an array of messages or not. In my understanding, the advantages/disadvantages of a such change are similar to the advantages/disadvantages of a service according its level of granularity. Fine Grained + simplicity and less business logic on server side + less amount of data exchanged between client/server - a lot of interactions between client/server - more interactions = more network overhead - complex client side Coarse Grained + less interactions between client/server + less network overhead & possibility of re-using the same network connection to send messages to the Push Networks (at least for APN) + simple client side - much data exchanged in each interaction between client/server - complex server side

PushPlugin

Hi, We have already got some documentation how to use cordova with unified push by using the PushPlugin. But I was thinking about forking it and making our own version I think Matthias had this idea as well. If you look at the PushPlugin now there is a lot of things that are platform specific. For instance to register you should do: if (device.platform == 'android' || device.platform == 'Android') { pushNotification.register(successHandler, errorHandler, {"senderID":"replace_with_sender_id", "ecb":"onNotificationGCM"}); } else { pushNotification.register(tokenHandler, errorHandler, {"badge":"true", "sound":"true", "alert":"true", "ecb":"onNotificationAPN"}); } Then there are some more platform specific thing that we could remove as well, because we know that you are going to use this together with Unified Push we could make the process of registering a lot easier and create only one register function that works for both platforms: pushNotification.register(successHandler, errorHandler, {"badge":"true", "sound":"true", "alert":"true", "senderID":"123", "ecb":"onNotification"}); Making it easier for people to get started with cordova and for us less documentation to maintain ;)

Basic and Digest Auth

Hey all, We are considering closing https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AGJS-18 and https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AGJS-23. After research and prototyping, I learned that we don't have access to the headers we need to be able to handle these auth methods via JS. Making AJAX requests to endpoints protected by BASIC or DIGEST should still pop the browsers built in handling for auth. That will be a PITA for a user to have to deal with that but it's the world of browser security. Any thoughts or votes for or against closing these tickets?
